Supporting the Love Grace Charity for the Global 16 Days Against Gender-Based Violence

As part of the Global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, Chelmsford Cathedral will be collecting donations in support of the Love Grace charity.

This remarkable organisation provides practical assistance to local refuges, offering comfort and essential items to those escaping violence and rebuilding their lives.

Remembering Grace Millane

Grace Millane, originally from Essex, was tragically murdered while travelling in New Zealand. Her story stands as a powerful reminder of the ongoing and urgent need to eradicate gender-based violence in all its forms.

How You Can Help

From 29 November we invite you to donate good quality toiletries, hair accessories, jewellery, and handbags at the Cathedral. These items will be distributed to those supported by Love Grace, helping to restore dignity and bring hope during moments of profound vulnerability.

Advent Sunday: A visible reminder

On Advent Sunday every third chair in the Cathedral will be marked with a purple ribbon. This poignant visual symbol highlights the global reality that one in three women will experience abuse in their lifetime - twice the rate experienced by men.

The Revd Olivia Maxfield-Coote commented:

“Love Grace calls us to remember that small acts of generosity can become lifelines for those living through the darkest of circumstances. Together, as a Cathedral community, we affirm our commitment to justice, compassion, and the healing of all who suffer violence.”
