The Cathedral is a beautiful and versatile space and hosts a variety of concerts, lectures, and presentations throughout the year.
It is also a popular venue for corporate events, formal dinners and school prize giving ceremonies. We are pleased to host both Writtle University College and Anglia Ruskin University graduations where we welcome over 5,000 students and their families to celebrate their achievements in the Cathedral. We are located within the historic city centre.
This makes the Cathedral an ideal venue being a five minute walk from the train station and close to bus routes including the city’s popular park and ride service. There are numerous public car parks within a ten minute walk.
Chelmsford Cathedral is renowned not only for its rich choral tradition, but also for its concerts, which cater for a wide genre of musical tastes. Concert organisers can choose to hire staging for their event, which can be built to the specific needs of the concert.
The Cathedral is also able to offer additional sound and lighting systems to create the desired atmosphere for any event.
The Cathedral offers a variety of flexible seating configurations and our Operations Manager and Head Verger can make suggestions as to how the Cathedral and its facilities can be tailored to suit the event.
