One of the unique features of a Cathedral is the beautiful choral music and at Chelmsford Cathedral our choirs are at the heart of this tradition.
The Cathedral is served by a traditional choir of boys and adults who sing regularly at choral services from week to week. The choristers attend a number of local schools and range in age from 7 to 15. During term time, they come to the Cathedral for practices and services four days a week as well as singing at the festivals of Christmas and Easter. They also take part in many of the City’s commemorations and celebrations including Remembrance Sunday and the Christmas lights switch on.

The adults include school-age and post-school choral scholars, along with more experienced singers, and sing at services from Thursday to Sunday, and at a variety of events through the year including concerts, dinners, and informal gatherings.
The Chelmsford Cathedral Young Singers is an exciting new choir for boys and girls aged 7 - 14.
The Young Singers rehearse on Tuesdays after school and sing at our 9.30am Sung Eucharist on Sunday mornings as well as at other services and events..
There is no audition to join the Young Singers and we welcome all children who love to sing. Please email our Music Department to find out more.
