Together in Praise: Thy Kingdom Come 2025

Creative prayer stations will soon be arriving at Chelmsford Cathedral for the tenth annual global prayer movement Thy Kingdom Come

Thy Kingdom Come is an 11-day initiative beginning on Ascension Day and continuing until Pentecost Sunday. The initiative is inspired by Jesus promising his disciples they would receive power to spread the word of God when the Holy Spirit came upon them, before he ascended to heaven. Just as those disciples devoted themselves to daily prayer until the Holy Spirit came down on Pentecost Sunday, today Christians all over the world from different denominations, time zones, and continents will pray for people to encounter Jesus.

Over the last decade, Thy Kingdom Come has grown enormously, with more than a million Christians from 90% of the world's countries and 85 different denominations and traditions taking part. This year the initiative will be centred around thinking about The Lord’s Prayer.

Chelmsford Cathedral is delighted to be involved, with six stations laid out through the Cathedral in a prayer labyrinth during this time. At each station there will be activities relating to lines from the Lord’s Prayer to encourage all ages to consider the meaning behind the words.

Families are welcome to explore the stations together from Ascension Day on May 29th, while local schools are invited to book time slots for group visits between June 2nd and June 5th.

Schools can email kate.moore@chelmsfordcathedral.org.uk to book a visit.
