Shrove Tuesday, or Pancake Day, is the last day before Lent.
Shrove Tuesday, or Pancake Day, is the last day before Lent. Traditionally it would be a day of feasting, using up all the rich ingredients likes eggs and milk in the cupboard before the 40 days of Lent begin. The word ‘Shrove’ comes from the old word ‘shriven’, meaning forgiven.
The Cathedral choir had some fun in the Cathedral before rehearsal and took the opportunity to practice their flipping skills with Canon Ivor and Canon Imogen. We're not sure any of the pancakes survived the competition but they did get to enjoy some of the unflipped pancakes afterwards!
