Chelmsford Cathedral is set to feature in the latest episode of Great British Railways on BBC Two.
Broadcaster Michael Portillo visited the Cathedral a few months back and spent time getting to know Bishop Guli for his BBC2 series airing on television next week. The series shows him travelling through Essex by train and in the latest episode he will first visit the new Beaulieu Park train station, before an important stop at the Cathedral. Here he was able to learn about the Diocese, which is one of the largest – stretching all the way from the east coast to East London – and most diverse in the country.
The episode features Bishop Guli sharing her personal story of how she was forced to escape Iran with her family after the Islamic Revolution of 1979, when she was just 13-years-old. Michael then continues on the Great Eastern Main Line to Maldon before finishing the episode in Tollesbury further along the River Blackwater.
We are very excited to watch this episode, which airs on Wednesday April 30th at 6.30pm, and will be on BBC iPlayer from April 28th.
