New role for Chelmsford Cathedral’s Assistant Curate

On Sunday it was announced that the Rev’d Julia Lacey, Assistant Curate here at Chelmsford Cathedral, has been appointed Priest in Charge of the Benefice of Cresswell and Lynemouth and the Benefice of Widdrington and Assistant Curate to the Benefice of Ulgham in the Diocese of Newcastle.

Final arrangements for her licensing and installation are still to be arranged but it is expected that this will be in June 2023.

Julia says: "While Colin and I are delighted to join the people of Cresswell, Lynemouth, Widdrington and Ulgham, we are also sad to be leaving Chelmsford. In the last three years we have made many friends here. I am very grateful to the Cathedral community for welcoming me so warmly – it has been a very enriching and inspiring seven months with you.

I have treasured working alongside the wonderful team of staff and clergy and enjoyed joining in with the tremendous work that the volunteers are doing day in, day out. Gaia, civic and school services, meeting a wide range of people of all backgrounds, and, of course, the beautiful music will all stay with me for a long time to come. A heartfelt thank you to all of you!"

Please keep Julia and her husband Colin in your prayers as they prepare to begin a new chapter in their lives and ministry.
