A Farewell to Revd Canon Kate Moore

It has been announced today that The Revd Canon Kate Moore is moving on to take the next step in her priestly journey and explore new opportunities in her ministry.

For the last ten years, Kate Moore has been an integral part of Cathedral life. Initially serving part-time while working as a Headteacher, she transitioned to a full-time role after retiring from school leadership in 2023. During her time, she has been a key figure in several areas, including education, schools' visits, safeguarding and Day Chaplaincy.

Kate has supported the community at the Cathedral, hosting groups like Breakfast with the Bible and Ask Us Anything and leading the theological Keene Lectures. She’s also a dedicated member of the pastoral team, supporting liturgy, events, and visitor engagement programmes.

Reflecting on Kate’s departure, The Very Revd Dr Jessica Martin, Dean of Chelmsford Cathedral, shared:

“Kate has made an outstanding contribution to the life of the Cathedral and its wider community, bringing energy, vision and enthusiasm to every aspect of her ministry. Her leadership in pastoral care and missional events, alongside her generous commitment of time and gifts, has touched the lives of many and left an enduring impact on our community.

“As she embarks on this next chapter of her ministry, we extend our heartfelt thanks and very best wishes for all that the future holds.”

A farewell service will be held on Sunday 31 August for all to attend and give thanks for Kate's ministry.
