Join us to welcome our new Canon Precentor

Chelmsford Cathedral is delighted to share that The Revd Sebastian Harries will be will be collated and installed as Canon Precentor at a special service at 3.30pm on Sunday 24th March, Palm Sunday.

As Canon Precentor, Sebastian will be responsible for worship, liturgy and music at the Cathedral as well as sharing in its governance and helping to shape and lead its mission and ministry.

The service will include some poignant and personal music chosen by Revd Sebastian and sung by the Cathedral Choir to celebrate this special day. Revd Sebastian says,

"I’ve chosen music to reflect the drama of Jesus’ journey during Palm Sunday and Holy Week. My music choices are also of personal significance to me and have played an important part of my journey of faith: I first heard Howells’ Gloucester service as a teenager when I went to hear my sister’s choir at evensong. My first “grown up” choir,  was the chapel choir of college where Leighton himself studied, and we often sang his responses there."

Refreshments will be served after the service. We hope you can join us.
