Chelmsford Cathedral were delighted to welcome over 550 people to their first ever family-friendly Lunchtime Concert.
Held during the October half term holiday, as part of the city's Out of This World event, children and their families packed out the building to enjoy a fun-filled 45 minutes of live music.
Curated by Samuel Bristow, Assistant Director of Music, the free concert delivered an unforgettable musical journey through the cosmos, delighting the audience with space themed music played on the Cathedral’s grand organ. The programme included iconic pieces from Star Wars, E.T., and 2001: A Space Odyssey, as well as a breathtaking arrangement of "Neptune" from Holst’s The Planets.
Samuel also played a specially arranged version of Spaceman by Essex popstar Sam Ryder who gave his stamp of approval commenting "Sick! Love the unleashing of the drawbars on the chorus 🔥 🔥 🔥" on a social media post promoting the concert.
Before the concert, hundreds of children enjoyed a rocket-making craft activity, letting their imaginations take flight as they crafted their own spaceships, setting the stage for an “out of this world” musical experience.
Thank you to all who attended and helped make this concert a fantastic success. We look forward to seeing you at future events!
