Initially resident at Christ Church Isle of Dogs, the choir soon developed a busy life of its own, visiting Parish Churches across the East End as well as singing at major churches and cathedrals during choir holidays. Their vision is simple: to harness the wealth of musical talent in east London; and to enable choral worship of the highest standard in London's East End, using the unique riches of the Book of Common Prayer.

Sunday 25th August – Chant and Meditation in the Monastic Tradition with Revd Canon Sebastian Harries, Precentor at Chelmsford Cathedral

Canon Sebastian grew up in Oxford and read music at the University of Manchester. Prior to ordination he spent time living in a number of religious communities, which included Anglican Benedictines and Franciscans. As part of his training for ministry he studied in Rome and lived at The Lay Centre, a community with a charism for ecumenical and interfaith dialogue.

The Chapel of St Peter-on-the-Wall is the oldest church in England, founded by St Cedd in 654. Cedd was born in the kingdom of Northumbria and brought up on the island of Lindisfarne. He had three brothers and all four were priests St Cedd sailed down the east coast of England from Lindisfarne and landed at Bradwell. Here he found the ruins of an old deserted Roman fort. He probably first built a small wooden church but as there was so much stone from the fort, he soon realised that would provide a much more permanent building, so he replaced it the next year with the chapel we see today.
