Chelmsford Cathedral to host Emotional Wellbeing, Mental Health and Spirituality Conference

Chelmsford Cathedral is delighted to host a conference offering advice and support to people working with and supporting children, young people and their families to promote positive emotional wellbeing and mental health.

The conference, taking place on Wednesday 27th April and the first to be held in person in over two years, has been organised by the Cathedral's Canon Pastor and Vice Dean, Canon Ivor Moody and Sidra Naeem in conjunction with Essex County Council. Speaking ahead of the conference, Canon Ivor said

We really hope this day conference will appeal to a wide range of people, as well as those in education. It is a result of months of collaboration and work between a number of individuals and organisations, and I am proud that the Cathedral will be hosting this important and timely event.

In the morning, Sue Bell OBE, CEO and Clinical Director of Kids Inspire will speak on the importance of the 'Mind Body connection' and there will be a series of workshops for delegates to choose from including sessions on 'Nature Poetry', art therapy and mindfulness with children. Conference organiser Sidra Naeem will be leading one of the workshops on how BAME culture and faith can promote positive mental health and wellbeing in children.

In the afternoon Kate Moore, Headteacher of Birch Church of England Primary School and Associate Priest here at Chelmsford Cathedral will speak on supporting children in primary schools with mental health and well-being and delegates at the conference will also hear directly from young people who will share their experiences.

Post conference notes are available to read here.
