Chelmsford Cathedral was proud to be part of the city's Remembrance Sunday Service and Parade on Sunday 10th November at the Duke Street War Memorial.
This year’s event saw hundreds of Chelmsford residents, veterans, members of the Royal British Legion and community group representatives come together to remember and honour brave military personnel of past and present.
The Cathedral Choristers and Cathedral Young Singers were honoured to represent the Cathedral at the Civic Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial on Duke Street.
The service was led by our interim Dean, the Very Revd Paul Kennington, and attended by our Bishop, the Right Revd Dr Guli Francis-Dehqani. Wreaths were laid by the Mayor, representatives of the Armed Forces and community groups and the two-minute silence, marked by the firing of the maroons, was observed at 11am.
Our young singers, directed by Assistant Director of Music Samuel Bristow, led the singing of the hymns, “O God, our help in ages past” and “I vow to thee my country”.
