Surprising Saints: Maxamilian Kolbe - 14th August

The Dean of Chelmsford, Nicholas Henshall, reflects on this very modern saint. Polish by birth, Maximilian joined a Franciscan order where he wrote and published. However with the annexation of Poland by the Nazis, he found himself in Auschwitz. Hear his moving story of self sacrifice and how 'that a man could sing in the face of an appalling death' left a lasting legacy on his captors.
