The shepherds feature most in Luke's gospel and they're 'full on'! They were seen as unreliable outcasts so it is no accident that Luke talks about the shepherds in the field. God is born in the wrong place and his first visitors are wholly inappropriate. But God is becoming one of us in Jesus Christ, he is assuming our humanity and blessing it.
