Procession of the Palms

Holy Week began with our Palm Sunday service, as we commemorated Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem with The Procession of the Palms.

Children decorated their own palms during Junior Church, while each member of the morning congregation received a palm cross blessed by Dean Jessica Martin. These will be kept as mementoes from the service, with some saved to be burnt into ash for the Ash Wednesday service next year.

On Sunday, the congregation gathered to watch the procession, led by Billy the donkey, to the beautiful sound of the choir singing hymns into the Cathedral for the Choral Eucharist service.
