Last Saturday, the Society of Women Organists hosted an inspiring “Organ Marathon” at London Bridge railway station to celebrate International Women’s Day. From 9am to 6pm, a team of talented women organists took turns playing “Henry”, the station’s public access organ, filling the busy concourse with music.
Emma, our Cathedral’s Director of Music, took part in the event and shared her experience:
“It was great to be part of the SWO Organ Marathon, celebrating International Women’s Day. There was loads of interest from passersby, and in particular, from children, who were especially fascinated by the fact that we were all playing notes with our feet! It was a great opportunity to introduce the organ to a new audience.”
