Community as a Superpower

Chelmsford Cathedral marks Refugee Week with a special gathering.

The cathedral recently hosted for a special coffee morning on the 17 June bringing together clients, volunteers, and partners of the Chelmsford Integration Project, an initiative by Ideas Hub, to mark Refugee Week.

Members of the congregation also joined the event, fostering informal conversations over hot drinks and an array of homemade cakes along with a tour of the cathedral.

The event resonated deeply with this year's Refugee Week theme: "Community as a Superpower." The Reverend Olivia Maxfield-Coote, highlighted the motivation behind the gathering:

"Through the simple act of hospitality, we wanted to work with Ideas Hub to make connections across our city and build community by listening, learning, laughing together over cake."

Refugee Week continues until 22 June and anyone interested in learning how simple acts of shared generosity can be multiplied to become an unstoppable force, can visit the Amnesty International display currently hosted within the cathedral.
