Tarry Awhile Lunchtime Lent Course

Thu 7 March 2024 Time: 12:00pm - 1:00pm

"Will you tarry here and watch with me?"

This year our Lent course is based on the book Tarry Awhile: Wisdom from Black Spirituality for people of faith by Selina Stone, picked as The Archbishop of Canterbury's Lent Book 2024. It's available to buy online and from the Cathedral Bookshop.

Tarrying is a Black Christian spiritual practice which answers 'yes' to the question Jesus once asked his disciples. Whether in the vibrabcy of music and singing, or in hushed silence, people of all ages actively wait for an encounter with God that will transform what we know, what we feel and what we experience day to day. We'll be using the book to seek God in both familiar and unfamiliar places this Lent: in darkness and in quiet; in movement and migration; in the healing and transforming work of the Spirit; in the weeping of Holy Week and in the joy of Easter morning.

Join us on Thursday lunchtimes from 12pm - 1pm in the Cathedral. There is no need to sign up, you are welcome to simply arrive and join with others.

These sessions will run until 21st March and will be led by The Revd Rosemary Drew from St Mary’s Church in Great Dunmow.
