Cathedrals at Night

Last Friday, the Cathedral held a first Cathedrals at Night event, an opportunity to explore the art and artefacts of the Cathedral with choral and organ music throughout the evening.

The Choir and music was reflective in tone and very much enjoyed by the visitors.  Whilst most people sat to listen, there was a sense of informality which allowed people to continue to look around. A labyrinth had been set up in the chancel and many people enjoyed following the pattern while they thought, prayed or meditated. Also, on display after a number of years, the red altar front and matching vestments and the banner also embroidered by Beryl Dean.

The Cathedral was lit by candlelight including a St Cedd's cross in front of the altar.

There will be a similar reflective evening of world music whilst the cathedral hosts Gaia in October, so do check the website regularly for further details. Tickets will be available from September.
