Mindful Moments

Fri 11 July 2025 Time: 6:30pm - 8:30pm

Calm your mind, relax your body and experience an evening of yoga inspired exercise and sound bathing in the magnificent surroundings of Chelmsford Cathedral.

Yoga techniques and sound bathing are ancient techniques that boost physical and mental well-being. This session focuses on movement and breathing to exercise your body and quieten your mind while sound bathing involves participants being ‘bathed’ in rhythmic sound waves encouraging you to relax, release stress and anxiety. The evening seeks to balance physical and emotional well-being ready for restorative sleep.

The techniques will be suitable for everyone, regardless of experience (you will need to be able to get on and off of the floor). You will need to bring a mat, two blankets and pillow. If you have any other props that you like to use, please bring them along.

The two-hour session includes an hour of yoga inspired exercise and an hour of sound bathing with our experienced and qualified teachers, Mandy Haynes and Nicola Chantler.

Meet the teachers:

Mandy Haynes: Mandy's ethos as a yoga teacher is the importance of creating time and spaces for ourselves. She passionately believes that yoga gives us the chance to move out of our heads, out of whatever is going on in our daily life, and bring our awareness back into our body and our breath. The practice of yoga can bring balance and emotional stability and it brings us back to the present moment. Visit Mandy's website to find out more.

Nicola Chantler: Nicola is passionate about empowering people, in mind and body, through a creative and inspiring approach to yoga and meditation. Facilitating practices such as yoga, breathwork, and gong meditation, she creates spaces for compassionate self-inquiry, curiosity, and self-awareness.

During a gong meditation, or 'gong bath,' you will be invited to lie down, rest and ease into the experience. The session begins with a gentle guided meditation to help you settle into a state of calm, before you are immersed in the soothing sounds of the gongs. Find out more about Nicola and her offerings at www.littleyogastudio.co.uk.

Please note there are a few precautions and contraindications for sound baths for those with the following conditions; epilepsy, pregnancy, implants or plates in the body. Please check with your doctor whether a sound bath is safe for you.
