The Cathedral Choir

The Cathedral maintains a traditional choir of twenty two boys and twelve gentlemen whose prime responsibility is to maintain a pattern of regular choral services from week to week.

The choirboys, known as choristers, range from eight to thirteen in age. They come to the Cathedral for practices and services on six days a week during school term time and over the religious festivals of Christmas and Easter.

There are three lay clerks and three choral scholars who sing at all of the choral services where the full choir is needed. In addition there are several voluntary singers who complete the team.
