Cathedral Safeguarding Officer

The Cathedral Safeguarding Officer (CSO) will ensure the implementation of safeguarding policy across all activities delivered by the Cathedral.

Job Title: Cathedral Safeguarding Officer
Line Manager: The Dean with supervisory responsibility resting with the Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser (DSA)
Hours: c20 hours per week which may involve weekends and evenings.
Salary: £26,000 - £28,000 per annum pro rata

Closing date: Wednesday 20th December at midday


About the role

As the Cathedral Safeguarding Officer you will have an overview of all Cathedral activities involving children, young people and vulnerable adults and will ensure the implementation of safeguarding policy across all Cathedral activities. The CSO is the key link between the Diocese and the Cathedral concerning safeguarding matters, you will be familiar with Diocesan safeguarding guidance and ensure that leaders of activities are fully aware of, and are implementing, this guidance. With a willingness to be proactive and the ability to communicate at all levels, we're looking for someone who is able to work alone as well as within a team.

There are around 250 volunteers here at Chelmsford Cathedral covering a great many roles which allows the Cathedral to open seven days a week, be a home to many community groups and continue to offer free entry to visitors.
