FOCUS ON EDUCATION AT CATHEDRAL
Chelmsford Cathedral will devote next Sunday to Education with the commissioning of the new head teacher of the Cathedral School at the 9.30 Eucharist. Mrs Anthea Kenna will be formally introduced to the congregation in her new post along with Robert Hammond as the chairman of school Governors. The Dean, the Very Revd Peter Judd will commission them both during the service..
Also involved, will be several young children who will make their first communion. The sermon will be given by the school chaplain, the Revd Canon Simon Pothen, Precentor at the Cathedral. Coffee will be served after at the school in Waterloo Lane.
Children from the Sunday School now assemble round the altar at the Cathedral when taking part in the celebration and distribution of Holy Communion.
CATHEDRAL MUSICIAN RETURNS FOR RECITAL
Robert Poyser, Assistant Director of Music at the Cathedral for five years returns on Friday (Jan 29) to give a recital with Rachel Mathieson, piano Robert is now Director of Music at Beverley Minster, East Yorks. While in Essex he also directed the Braintree Choral Society. The concert is 12.30 with refreshments served from 12.
COLLEGE PRINCIPAL IS GUEST SPEAKER
The Principal of St Mellitus College for the training of ordinands in Essex and London, the Revd Dr Graham Tomlin speaks on "Spiritual Fitness" at the Chelmsford Theological Society meeting in the Chapter House on Wed, Feb 3 at 8pm: £3.50.
CATHEDRAL COFFEE MORNING The monthly Coffee Morning at the Chapter House is on Saturday, Feb 6 from 10am to 12 noon. All are welcome.

A service to celebrate the sacrament of marriage will be held on Sunday, Feb 14 on St Valentine's Day in the Cathedral at 3pm.
