CATHEDRAL CHOIR AIDS FOUNDATION

Young choristers of the Chelmsford Cathedral Choir will sing Handel's "Messiah" for the first time in aid of their Choral Foundation which provides bursaries for adults and children who sing the daily cathedral services. The concert to be held on Sunday (Dec 20) at 7.30pm features four top soloists from the world of music, Lorna Anderson, soprano, Hilary Summers, contralto, Andrew Kennnedy, tenor and Michael George, bass. The conductor is Peter Nardone, their Director of Music. Tickets £12 to £25 at the door or from the Civic Theatre Box Office on 01245 606505.

The Foundation was set up by composer, John Rutter a few years ago to provide financial support for those in the choir and to encourage their musical training.

WESTMINSTER VISITOR

The Canon steward of Westminster Abbey, the Revd Jane Hedges was the preacher at Choral Mattins yesterday (Dec 13) at the Cathedral when the service was conducted by the Dean, the Very Revd Peter Judd.

PROGRAMME FOR CHRISTMAS

A service card will full details of the Christmas Services at the Cathedral is available from the Tourist Information Office, the Central Library and from the south porch (and from the Main menu on the left of this website). The Choir sing the traditional Service of Nine Lessons and Carols on both Wed, Dec 23 and on Christmas Eve, Dec 24. - both at 6pm. No tickets issued. All are welcome.

FOR CATHEDRAL FUNDS The Christmas Market held in the Cathedral on Sat, Dec 5th realised £2,500 for funds.
