CATHEDRAL CHORISTERS "IN CONCERT"
In the midst of a heavy schedule of carol services and Christmas music, choristers of the Cathedral Choir are practising their role in their first performance of Handel's "Messiah" to a big "concert hall" audience on Sun, Dec 20th at 7.30pm.
The Choir conducted by Peter Nardone, their Director of Music, will be joined by a baroque orchestra and four top professional soloists. The details of ticket arrangements are available from the Civic Theatre box office on 01245 6606505.
In addition, the Choir will sing carols to evening shoppers in the High Chelmer Shopping Centre, Chelmsford on Thurs, Dec 17, from 6.30 to 7.30pm
THEOLOGICAL SOCIETY AT WORK
Prof Hugh Williamson of Oxford University is the speaker at the next meeting of the Chelmsford Theological Society on Wednesday, Dec 9th in St Cedd's Hall at 8 pm. The admission of £3.50p should be paid on arrival. The Chairman is the Revd Canon Andrew Knowles.
ANIMALS AT CAROL SERVICE
Thirty dogs were among the large congregation for the annual Willow Tree Animal Sanctuary service yesterday (Dec 6) at the Cathedral when the Patron, David Amess,MP for Southend West, welcomed the guests. The service was conducted by the Revd Canon Simon Pothen, Canon Precentor.
CHRISTMAS CATHEDRAL SERVICES
A service card giving full details of the Christmas services at the Cathedral is now available from the Tourist Information Office, the Central Library or the south porch of the Cathedral. No tickets are required for the services of Nine Lessons and Carols to be sung on Wednesday, Dec 23 and on Christmas Eve - both at 6pm. All welcome.
