HUSBAND AND WIFE ORDAINED
A husband and wife were ordained at Chelmsford Cathedral yesterday by the Area Bishop of Bradwell, the Right Revd Dr Laurie Green. The Revd Terry Brown, associate minister of Great Wakering was made priest and his wife, Caroline, a deacon. She will serve at St Mary's Church, Prittlewell, Southend. Mr Brown was previously a religious studies teacher at St Edward's School, Romford for 34 years.
Paula Griffiths was also ordained deacon to serve at Saffron Walden at the same unique service at which the address was given by the Revd Lindsay Yates, chaplain of Westcott House Theological College, Cambridge. The service was introduced by the Dean, the Very Revd Peter Judd and Peter Nardone conducted the Cathedral Choir.

CATHEDRAL CHOIR IN BROADCAST
The Cathedral Choir sing Choral Evensong on Wednesday on BBC, Radio 3 at 4pm.
BISHOP IS GUEST SPEAKER
A former bishop, Dr Peter Selby is the speaker at Wednesday's meeting of the Chelmsford Theological Society at the Chapter House, 8pm. His subject is "Mammon's Revenge, reflections on the financial crisis" Admission is £3.50.
CATHEDRAL FRIENDS TO HOLD AGM
The Friends of Chelmsford Cathedral hold their annual general meeting on Saturday 3pm, with a talk by retired architect, Dennis Hance. A tea party follows in the Chapter House before Choral Evensong at 5.15pm. More information on 01245 294489.
LUNCH TIME CONCERTS CONTINUE
The concert on Friday (Sept 25) will be given by the soprano, Jackie Pittman accompanied by Philip Joy, piano. Refreshments are served from 12 noon.

DINNER AMID THE FLOWERS
A formal dinner will be held at the beginning of the "Ode to Joy", Festival of Flowers on Friday, Oct 9th when the speaker will be Mr Peter Coode-Adams, a former High sheriff and chairman of the Royal Horticultural Society. All tickets at £25 are now sold. Tickets at £7 ( £6.50 conc) for the Flower festival, Oct 9-12th, will be available at the door from 10am to 4pm.
