CHRISTIANS IN HOLIDAY MODE
The congregation of Chelmsford Cathedral joins members of the other town centre churches in praise and songs out of doors on Sunday (Aug 30) in the gardens of the diocesan offices at 53 New Street, Chelmsford.
The occasion includes worship and a picnic and local folk have been invited to bring their folding chairs and join in the fun with a picnic starting at 4pm. The other churches involved are - The Central Baptist Church, Christ Church URC, the Church of Our Lady Immaculate, Elim Christian Centre, the Salvation Army and Trinity Methodist Church (with which the Cathedral has a covenant). All are welcome
The service will be held in the Cathedral if the weather is inclement and it will replace the traditional Evensong at the Cathedral (6pm).
SUMMER RECITALS
he final concert in the Cathedral series of summer organ recitals on Saturdays will be given by Simon Bell, Assistant Organist, Winchester Cathedral on Aug 30th at 6.30pm. Tickets, £5 at the south door.
FESTIVAL OF FLOWERS
The Flower Festival at the Cathedral, "Ode to Joy" takes places from Oct 9 to 12th. Tickets can be booked through the Cathedral Office by completing a booking form (available now at the Cathedral welcome desk or the Chelmsford Tourist Office - and from this website.).
A demonstration of flowers will be given by David Thompson in the Cathedral on Friday, 18 Sept at 7.30pm. Tickets at £8 including a glass of wine, are now available on 01245 469713 (Cynthia Styles)or 01245 268596 (Jackie Dryhurst from 4pm) Proceeds to offset the Cathedral Flower Guild costs for the flower festival.
MIRACLE PLAYS
Tickets for the Cathedral medieval miracle plays on October 1st to 3rd, are now available at the Civic Theatre Box Office on 01245 606505.
