TOP MANAGER APPOINTED CATHEDRAL ADMINISTRATOR
Philip Tarris, 55, has been appointed Administrator and Chapter Clerk of Chelmsford Cathedral. He takes over from Captain David Fifield on November 30. Philip is in the third year of his training for the non-stipendiary ministry and hopes to be ordained deacon in July. He attends Saffron Walden parish church.
He has fond memories of Chelmsford for he worked as the Assistant County Parks Officer for Essex County Council in the 80s. He then spent 25 years with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in London, the leading body in land, property and construction. Latterly he was Board Director heading up the Corporate Governance team. He has wide experience of working with volunteers (chartered surveyors) in their professional body.
Originally from Suffolk, he now lives with his family near Thaxted in NW Essex. His wife, Elizabeth is a Community Matron with West Essex PCT and his sons, James and Jonathan graduated recently from Southampton University.
Philip graduated in geography at Swansea University and holds an M.Sc degree in landscape management from Wye College, University of London ( Photograph available)
DEAN JOINS ESSEX LIEUTENANCY
The Dean of Chelmsford Cathedral, the Very Revd Peter Judd is one of the six new Deputy Lieutenants appointed by the Lord Petre, HM Lord Lieutenant for Essex. He has been Dean (previously Provost) of Chelmsford Cathedral for the past yen years. (Photographs available)
ORGAN SCHOLAR GIVES RECITAL
James Norrey, the Cathedral's brilliant organ scholar for 2009-10 gives the next organ recital in the summer series of concerts on Saturday (Aug 22) at 6.30pm. Tickets, £5 at the south door on arrival. All welcome.
