CATHEDRAL FAREWELL TO MUSICIANS

There was a standing ovation for the Cathedral Assistant Director of Music, Tom Wilkinson last night following Evensong, who leaves after only one year to be the Director of Chapel Music at St Andrew's University. But he will return for Friday, Sept 4 when he opens the Friday lunchtime concert programme for the winter term.

Details of the weekly concerts are now available from the south porch.

On Saturday the Cathedral Choir and the Consort (Girls Choir ) sang Evensong at the ancient chapel of St Peter's-on-the-wall at Bradwell. Yesterday their music making at Choral Mattins included presentations by the Dean, the Very Revd Peter Judd to adult and child choristers who are leaving at the end of term.

HONORARY CHAPLAIN

The Revd Katy Hacker Hughes, Chaplain of Farleigh Hospice was commissioned by the Dean as an honorary assistant chaplain at the Cathedral during the youth-led Parish Eucharist on Sunday. She was previously Vicar of Great Waltham.

FAREWELL TO THE BISHOP

There are a few seats available from the Cathedral Office (01245 294492) for the Farewell service for the Bishop of Chelmsford, the Right Revd John Gladwin next Saturday (July 18) at 4pm. There will be a Jazz Band reception afterwards.

REHEARSALS FOR MIRACLE PLAYS BEGIN

Rehearsals for the miracle plays to be performed on Oct 1st-3rd, began last week and details are now available for booking seats via the Civic Theatre Box office on 01245 606505. Help is needed in drama make-up - those interested should contact the director of the plays, Alison Woollard on 01245 421729.
