CATHEDRAL PLANS FAITH SUPPERS

Members of the community of Chelmsford Cathedral will sit down over supper on two Wednesdays this month to discuss the credit crunch and the environmental crisis under the guidance of the Canon theologian, the Revd Andrew Knowles.
The suppers, entitled, "Faith in our Time, open to folk of different backgrounds, will first tackle the credit crisis on Wed, June 10 and on Wednesday, June 17 and as the first Eco cathedral, the environment and global warming and its effect on the church. Details of the suppers is available on 01245 294489 (£10 per head is the suggested donation). The meal will be served in the Chapter House at 7.45pm, and on Wednesday next week in the Cathedral itself at 7.45pm for 8pm..

CATHEDRAL SCHOOL OF PRAYER

A School of Prayer will be held on Saturday ,June 13, at St John's Church, Moulsham 10.30am to 3pm, led by the Revd Ann Coleman. Cost is £3.50 at the door.Open to all.

CATHEDRAL FOCUS ON KENYA

A lunch was held yesterday to celebrate the work of the Cathedral in its link diocese in Kenya and the work of its mission workers, the Revd Andrew and Rosemary Symonds in Swaziland. The Dean, the Very Revd Peter Judd welcomed the diners. Earlier a Eucharist was held in the Cathedral at 9.30 using the Kenyan Church liturgy with an address by the Revd Canon Roger Matthews, the diocesan director of mission

CATHEDRAL FOCUS ON THE YOUNG AT HEART

The Young People's League closed 40 years ago held a reunion of members yesterday in the Chapter House and unveiled their old banner which is now positioned in a frame on a wall of the building to remind the 40 guests of their youth work years ago. A number of those present met their spouses at the YPL meetings over the years. A tea party hosted by Doug and Joyce Britton was held afterwards.

CATHEDRAL FOCUS ON MUSIC

The artists at the Cathedral lunch time concert on Friday (June 12) will be Beverly Lockyer and Elizabeth Kent, sopranos; Gary Griffiths, baritone, Jess Barton, flute and Peter Dollimore, piano. The concert begins at 12.30. Refreshments from 12; admission free.
