CATHEDRAL EMPHASIS ON OFFERING SKILLS

Chelmsford Cathedral for its stewardship campaign starting next Sunday (March 29) requests members of the community to offer their skills. Though circa 200 people are already involved in Cathedral activities and events, there is still a need to draw more people - especially young families - into the every day pattern of mission.

At all services, the Dean the Very Revd Peter Judd and his clerical colleagues and members of the cathedral staff, will be on hand to accept people's pledge cards as part of their regular commitment to the on-going life of the mother church of the diocese.

The Dean writes to members of the congregation - " The Cathedral is a community of some 1,500 people who each in his or her own way makes a contribution to the witness that we offer at the heart of the town, our county and diocese."

A wide range of voluntary jobs is available from bell ringing to supporting babies (in the weekly Pram Group); and from music (help with the voluntary choir or the orchestra) to cooking at the men's breakfasts. The hope is that new families will respond in a practical way. In addition, the programme of secular events needs support with the staging of mystery plays, Oct 1-3 and the Flower Festival, Oct 9-12.

Pledge cards are due to be presented at all services. More details on 01245 294489.
