CATHEDRAL CHOIR AT HISTORICAL SITE

The men of Chelmsford Cathedral Choir conducted by Peter Nardone visited an ancient church - St Katharine of Little Bardfield - on Thurs, Jan 22 where a replica statue of Mary was unveiled recently before fishermen from Nettuno on the Bay of Naples. The old image from the Reformation was caught in their nets and restored.

The service of Choral Evensong with special prayers was sung for the recovery of the image once housed in Ipswich where it originates. Five Bishops attended the ecumenical ceremony last month including the R.C Bishop of Brentwood, the Right Revd Thomas McMahon and the Bishop of Colchester, the Right Revd Christopher Morgan. Since then, links have been created and many parochial exchanges. The occasion marked the end of the Week of Christian Unity in Essex and Suffolk.
