FOCUS ON THE MIRACLES
A leading theologian is in Chelmsford on Wed ,Feb 4 to explain the meaning of the miracles of Jesus. The speaker is the Dean of St Albans, the Very Revd Jeffrey John who will deal with the Biblical accounts and answer questions on some of the fascinating and controversial aspects of the Christian Faith.
Dr John is a leading New Testament scholar and comes at the invitation of the Chelmsford Theological Society. The meeting in St Cedd's Hall of the Cathedral Chapter House is at 8pm. Admission is £3.50 payable at the door.
FOCUS ON CATHEDRAL WINDOWS A Chelmsford resident fascinated by the beauty of the windows in Chelmsford Cathedral has produced her own booklet, "Shedding Light" which is now available at the bookstall or by order from the Cathedral Office on 01245 294489.
Researched by Anne Lloyd and illustrated by her husband, David the new booklet is designed by Tony Harrington of the Cathedral Publicity team (Cost: £1.50). It records the chequered history of the East window ; the Holderness window to the west of the south door, the work of the pre-Raphaelite artist, Henry Holiday, and the image of St Peter in clear glass in St Peter's Chapel etched with a dentist's drill!
Mrs Lloyd says the leaflet is "unusual in that photographs reproduced show the windows that are hidden from public view including the Nativity window in the tower obscured when the nave organ was installed in 1994. It is only visible when floodlit during the Christmas season, whilst the window to our two female Essex saints - St Osyth and St Ethelburga - is obscured by the chancel organ."

CATHEDRAL BALL
The annual Cathedral Ball held at the Sire Hall, Chelmsford on Sat Jan 17 raised £2,500 towards the Cathedral general funds.
